Metric at Radio City Music Hall - Recap & Set List

Although a seated show at Radio City Music Hall isn't the ideal venue for seeing Metric, the band put on a great show nonetheless. (See the set list at bottom of article.) Of course, the viewpoints of fan and performer are different; and singer Emily Haines spoke of being able to play in the gorgeous, world-famous hall and how far it was from her small-town origins in Ontario, Canada.

The photos don't come close to doing justice to the show (yes, of lesser quality than usual), but they at least give an idea of what the show looked like. As always, Haines was like the Energizer Bunny: prancing from one end of the stage to the other, smacking her tambourine, shaking her head from side to side, and in general rarely standing still.

An already impressive show was made even more special when Haines called Lou Reed to the stage. He sang along on "The Wanderlust" (as he does on Metric's latest album, "Synthetica;" video from last night below), and added vocals on Metric's rendition of the Velvet Underground classic, "Pale Blue Eyes." Before bringing him on, Haines talked about how her older brother helped broaden her musical horizons by introducing her to acts such as Patti Smith and the Velvet Underground.

Get Tickets Now for the Conan O'Brien Tour - "Prohibited" at Radio City

We've all been wondering what Conan O'Brien's been up to since leaving The Tonight Show (besides growing a beard and following one person on Twitter). We now have the answer: Coco's been gearing up for a tour of live shows, and it will be coming to New York's Radio City Music Hall on June 1st and 2nd.

The Conan O'Brien tour, which has the catchy title "Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television," will feature Andy Richter and the former Tonight Show Band. It'll be just like the The Tonight Show, only live on stage!

Get Tickets for New Lady Gaga NYC Shows; Video of Her at AMAs and in Pre-Gaga Days

Two more shows have been added to Lady Gaga's existing two nights at New York's Radio City Music Hall. She will now be performing at the famed Rockefeller Center venue on Jan. 20-21 and 23-24, 2010. Kid Cudi and Jason Derulo will be supporting Lady Gaga at all four gigs. You can buy Lady Gaga Radio City tickets here for all four shows; this is the official Radio City online box office. And if you're wondering who Lady Gaga was before she was running around without pants and with flashing lights in public, well, check out the video below. It's from a 2005 show at at New York University talent show and features a young singer and pianist named Stefani Germanotta. I guess that name and the female singer-songwriter motif was just too common in the NYC area, so somehow she came up with the Lady Gaga persona. Obviously a smart marketing move.

New York Area Concerts: Bamboozle, Pete Seeger Tribute, Dark Was the Night

It's a busy concert weekend in the New York area, and three multi-artist events look to be very promising.

The Bamboozle festival continues Saturday and Sunday at the New Jersey Meadowlands in East Rutherford. On Saturday Fall Out Boy is the headliner, with Third Eye Blind, the Get Up Kids, Asher Roth, and many more acts on the bill. Sunday boasts headliners No Doubt; also slated for the final day are acts including Taking Back Sunday, Rise Against the Used, Face to Face, and Sum 41.

Sunday features two benefit shows. Over at Radio City Music Hall is Dark Was the Night, the latest show to benefit the Red Hot organization (and the live companion to the recent CD of the same name). On the bill are David Byrne, Dirty Projectors, Feist, Dave Sitek, Bon Iver, My Brightest Diamond, The National, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, and more. Madison Square Garden is probably the only venue big enough to hold all the stars, big and small, who'll be performing at the Pete Seeger 90th birthday celebration on Sunday. The music legend has influenced countless performers over the decades, and many of them will be singing and playing at Sunday's show: Bruce Springsteen, Arlo Guthrie, Bela Fleck, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine), Richie Havens, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
