CMJ will hit New York in less than a month, but tickets for some other great autumn shows are going on sale tomorrow, Sept. 21st. If you missed out on getting tickets for hot acts like Japandroids or The Gaslight Anthem, you'll be glad to know that shows have been added for these and other groups. See the list of concerts going on sale, with links to tickets, below.
As for events taking place this weekend, the big news is that the All Tomorrow's Parties festival is finally coming to New York City. "I'll Be Your Mirror," which is curated by ATP and Greg Dulli of the Afghan Whigs, takes place tomorrow through Sunday at Pier 36. Acts include Frank Ocean, the Afghan Whigs, The Roots, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and the Mark Lanegan Band. (Pier 36 is, the website says, "a new indoor venue sitting on the edge of the East River between the Manhattan & Williamsburg Bridges.")
Also tomorrow: If you're a Bon Iver fan, you'll want to watch a live webcast of their Radio City Music Hall show Friday night at 9:15 p.m. at Bowery Presents.

Now Streaming: New CDs from Gaslight Anthem, Matisyahu, Passion Pit, Purity Ring, & More
New releases by returning favorites and hot new artists take center stage among the albums streaming online this week. New Jersey rockers The Gaslight Anthem return with "Handwritten," the follow-up to 2010's "American Slang." NPR Music's Stephen Thompson says of the band, "You may have heard every ingredient before, but in this particular concoction, they all sound amazing." He adds that, "If there were a psychotropic drug that made users feel like James Dean, "Handwritten" would render it redundant.
Video for "Fineshrine" by Purity Ring.
What else is streaming this week? Former Stereolab singer and guitarist Laetitia Sadier is back with a new collection, her first in two years. There's also the much-anticipated debut album by Canadian electronic duo Purity Ring, who've garnered a lot of buzz based on the few singles they've released.
And a lot of people are looking forward to the latest album by another electronically oriented band, Passion Pit, which made a big splash back in 2008 with its catchy tune "Sleepyhead." (Passion Pit's synthesizer player, Ayad Al Adhamy, played at 4 Knots Saturday with his side project Team Spirit, in which he sings and plays guitar. His name isn't mentioned on the Passion Pit website for the new album, "Gossamer," so I'm not sure if he's left the band or just taking a hiatus to focus on Team Spirit).
Also streaming this week: new albums by singer-songwriter Citizen Cope, punk/electronica band Shout Out Out Out Out, '80s alt-rockers Soul Asylum, and many more. See the websites below for the complete lineup of albums they're streaming this week.

Free Album Previews: New St. Vincent and Ivy, the Latest "True Blood" Collection, & More
There aren't a lot of new albums for free preview this week, but there are some good ones available. One of the most anticipated is the new release from Annie Clark, the singer-songwriter and guitarist who performs under the name St. Vincent. She's back with "Strange Mercy," her first album in several years (release date: Sept. 13), and NPR Music is calling it her best yet. It's available for free streaming there and at KCRW (for a longer period).
Also available this week are new albums from a number of singer-songwriters including A.A. Bondy, Joe Firstman, and Tom Russell (with contributions from Calexico, Lucinda Williams, and others) … the album by the Horrible Crowes, the side project of Brian Fallon from the Gaslight Anthem … and the latest album by Ivy (the trio including Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne).
One album I've been enjoying is "True Blood: Music From The HBO Original Series Volume 3,"
Album previews from NPR Music and AOL/Spinner are usually available for one week, from Monday to Sunday; KCRW's album previews are up for a longer time and the date is given when known.
KCRW Album Preview:

NPR First Listen:

Free Album Streaming: New CDs from Sarah McLachlan, Tom Petty, Devo, Gaslight Anthem, Stars, Chemical Brothers, More
Left: Devo is offering free previews of its new album, with cats or without.
A lot of veteran artists are among those releasing new albums this week and in the near future, and many of them are available for free online streaming. Besides current artists such as Sarah McLachlan and Oasis coming out with new releases, some musicians from the past are streaming their new projects, including '70s rockers Foghat, Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett, Steve Cropper and Felix Cavaliere, and of course Devo.
Speaking of Devo, the band is hosting a "cat listening party" on Ustream today to preview its new CD, "Something for Everyone." From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific time, you can listen to the album while watching a live video of cats playing in a room. The highlight of the cat pen: a big, fuzzy energy dome for the kitties to climb and romp on.
As for the other streaming CD choices, which presumably don't have live cats...
Spinner.com's Listening Party currently features about 20 albums including:
* "American Slang" by The Gaslight Anthem
* "Mojo" by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
* "Barbara" by We Are Scientists
* "Laws of Illusion" by Sarah McLachlan
* "Time Flies" by Oasis
* "Release Me" by The Like
* "Goodbye, Killer" by the Pernice Brothers
* "Last Train Home" by Foghat
* "Something for Everyone" by Devo (if you missed the cat listening party)
AOL Music free album previews, which have some overlap with Spinner:
* "Playing for Change" by various artists
* "Love Like Crazy" by Lee Brice
* "Red Dog Speaks" by Elvin Bishop
* "Out of the Tunnel's Mouth" by Steve Hackett
* "Existential" by Grupo Fantasma
* "Midnight Flyer" by Steve Cropper and Felix Cavaliere
* "Live at the Fillmore" by Chris Isaak
NPR First Listen (all streaming until June 22):
* "Homeland" by Laurie Anderson
* "The Five Ghosts" by Stars
* "Broken Hearts And Dirty Windows: Songs Of John Prine" by Josh Ritter, Conor Oberst, and others
* "Further" by The Chemical Brothers
* "I Mean To Live Here Still" by David Karsten Daniels And Fight The Big Bull
* "The Imagine Project" by Herbie Hancock
* "Ten" by Jason Moran
