The huge music and technology retailer J&R periodically hosts live music in its lower Manhattan neighborhood, and starting today is its 2009 J&R Music Fest & Tech Expo. The proceedings actually started Wednesday with a performance by the pop group Air Supply, but things get going in earnest on Thursday, August 27th.

Thank you so much for the help in telling people about our MusicFest. We think we have great lineups for all three days. Our plan is to put on the show, rain or shine.
The musicians & equipment will be protected by the covered stage, the surrounding trees in City Hall Park offer some wind protection and the audience may use umbrellas for individual rain protection.
If we get heavy rain, we plan to move the performances inside J&R Music World across the street.
In addition to the page mentioned, we will have updates at our blog and real-time updates on twitter at @JRblog
Hope to see many people out enjoying this three-day free music festival.
Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to catch some of Saturday's show, it sounds like a great lineup.
